ABOUT THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF NORTHERN BAHR EL GHAZAL STATE – AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN

The Ministry of Health in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state, South Sudan, is responsible for a number of activities, including:
Community-based healthcare
The Ministry of Health is implementing the Boma Health Initiative (BHI) to improve access to primary healthcare in the state. The BHI aims to standardize community health services and prevent and treat common health conditions.

Health science training

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Ministry of Health, established a health science training institute in Aweil. The institute offers courses such as a Diploma in Clinical & Preventive Medicine and a Diploma in Nursing.

Medical supplies

The Ministry of Health receives medical supplies from the national ministry every three months and distributes them to the state counties and municipalities.

Public health alerts

The Ministry of Health issues public alerts to inform the public about health concerns. For example, the Ministry of Health issued an alert about an increase in cases of red eye disease (conjunctivitis) in the state.

Family planning

The Ministry of Health sensitizes the public about family planning.
